Northern Star: Calvin Anderson
Anderson became the school's all-time scoring leader in December.
SUPERIOR, Wis.- Earlier this season, Superior senior forward Calvin Anderson became the all-time scoring leader for the Spartans.
A feat he says that’s not possible without the ones that compete alongside him.
“My teammates really helped me more than anything. Finding me when I’m open and getting me the confidence to knock down shots and taking the pressure off them most of the time,” said Anderson.
But now, Anderson is going to have to take a seat on the shot attempts as he’s sidelined with a leg injury.
“He’s a coaches dream. You want more Cal’s in your program and we’re very fortunate to have him. I’m hopeful right. I’ve spent the last five years with him. I’m hopeful we can get him back and make a run,” said head coach Kory Deadrick.
As you can imagine, it’s not how Anderson wants to spend part of his last season. But, he has confidence in his teammates during his absence.
“I know my guys will be able to keep winning ball games, get us a good seed in the playoffs and I’m just going to support them throughout and hopefully join them back on the court here,” said Anderson.
The future UMD Bulldog added not to count him out.
“Win some playoff games and stay focused as if I’m able to come back. I really hope that I can. When I come back, I want to be ready to play,” said Anderson.
Superior will next play at Cloquet on Friday.
