‘Push-In Ceremony’ places new Tender 1 Tanker into service

TOWN OF SUPERIOR, Wiss. — The Town of Superior Fire Department held a “Push-In Ceremony” to officially place Tender 1, their new tanker truck, into service.

The Fire Chief began the ceremony with a speech regarding the importance of the truck, which cost approximately $520,000, and took three years to plan, order, and build. The ceremony included filling the tanker with water and pushing it into the station, a tradition dating back hundreds of years.

“It’s a huge deal for us, because a lot of times we try to do the best we can with what we have,” said Fire Chief Darryl Fiegle, Town of Superior Fire Station. “We fundraise to buy used equipment. This is something brand new; having this is just it boosts everybody’s morale. They get to drive a new piece of apparatus and have the most updated technology with it.”

After the new apparatus was back inside the station, the ceremony was wrapped up when the fire chief called on the radio, announcing that Tender 1 was ready for service.

“Good evening,” said Fire Chief Fiegle. “Tonight, we’re announcing that our new tender 1, 3,000-gallon tanker, is now ready for service at our station. Thank you. Have a good night.”

The Town of Superior Fire Chief says that the new rig will serve the community for another 30 years.
