Teen stabbed by man in Duluth

DULUTH, Minn. — Duluth police are investigating a stabbing of a juvenile male.

The stabbing happened around 6 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of n. 9th Avenue East.

When police arrived, they found an “active fight,” according to a news release Sunday.

Shortly after, police say they found a “juvenile male with possible stab wounds.”

The juvenile was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

“An adult male was detained and interviewed by investigators. He is cooperating with the investigation. He was released pending further investigation. The individuals involved in this matter are known to each other,” according to the release.

FOX 21 spoke to the mother of the boy who was injured.  She said her 16-year-old son was stabbed four times, which lead to a collapsed lung.  She said the man who was detained is her ex-boyfriend and that her son was trying to protect her.
