Minnesota Twins players meet with fans in Duluth during Winter Caravan tour
DULUTH, Minn.– Duluth welcomed in some extra special visitors today as part of their Winter Caravan Tour throughout the state.
Wednesday morning, Minnesota Twins players Justin Topa and Mick Abel, stopped by the Elite Sports Complex in West Duluth.
The turf was filled with excited community members, ready to get their winter baseball fix.
Fans got to check out a Q&A, or the meet and greet with their mascot “T-C Bear”.
One passionate attendee said she makes it a mission to come every year.
“I think it’s absolutely great. Otherwise, you just sit at home and watch on TV, or you come down or go down to target field and find a seat and watch, yeah, I think it’s great. They’re more like real people than somebody I just see on my TV,” said Cheryl Papillon, longtime attendee and Minnesota Twins fan.
One player said, it’s refreshing to see the enjoyment outside of the baseball season.
And that the feeling for community engagement is mutual with the fans.
“Just being here, you know, obviously a smaller group than what it would be at Target Field. So, yeah, it’s cool to just interact and answer any questions they might have, and to meet people and to hear the happiness that, you know, Twins, territory brings to the season,” said Justin Topa, relief pitcher for Minnesota Twins.
The winter caravan is hitting the road in 9 cities, across 4 states over the course of the next two days.
