PROCTOR, Minn. — A broken water main has temporarily closed Proctor highschool and Middle School.

According to school officials, overnight, a water main broke in Duluth that feeds water to Proctor.

When attempting to fix the break, the City of Duluth turned off the feed to the water tower.

As a result of morning water usage, the water tower was drained.

Officials say the City of Proctor asked the district to close the high school and middle school to avoid a water boil emergency and to give them time to refill the tower.

The Aspirus Event Center and Early Childhood Centers are also closed

The schools are expected to re-opoen Thursday.
