UMD Football Officially Signs 31 Recruits, Including Barnum’s Beckstrand & Hermantown’s Burg

UMD is coming off a 10-2 campaign in 2025, which included a national tournament appearance.

DULUTH, Minn.- The UMD football team revealed their 2026 recruiting class on Wednesday.

31 fresh faces will join the Bulldogs in the fall. That includes local talent, Barnum’s Julian Beckstrand and Hermantown’s Landon Burg.

Beckstrand will play defensive back and Burg will stay with his usual position, wide receiver.

During his annual signing day press conference, UMD head coach Curt Wiese shared what each player brings to the team.

“Landon Burg is a guy that we’ve seen on campus a few times. An athlete at the wide receiver position, taller, rangier guy that can go get the football. Definitely a guy that has a lot of upside in our program. Julian is a guy that played all over the field in Barnum and an athlete, basketball player, track athlete, fast, and a guy that we’re going to play at the safety position early and kind of figure out where exactly he’s going to fit defensively for us,” said Wiese.
