Escape the Bong returns for its eighth year

SUPERIOR, Wis. — If you’re looking for a different type of activity this Valentine’s weekend, Escape the Bong is back for its eighth year.

Mobile Escape Rooms have transformed the Bong Historical Center in Superior into four different escape rooms. From trying to get your stolen high school mascot back to trying to find your way out of a prohibition-era speakeasy before the police catch up to you, the museum says it’s always fun to see the creativity of the rooms.

“Every year, there’s a room that kind of pushes the bar from last year. This year’s mission, Marge, is pretty challenging. And the gadgetry and the thought that goes into them is amazing,” said John Gidley, Bong Center, Executive Director.

The Bong Museum says it’s always fun to see groups work through their problems, and being in a historical World War 2 museum adds a little something to the fun of the escape rooms.

Gidley added, “I think the setting here at the Bong Center, the World War II, the escape rooms kind of match that era. It’s pretty magical, it’s very neat. And it incorporates learning history.”

Museum entry is included in the price of the escape rooms. Part of the proceeds from this year’s escape rooms will go towards preserving the site of the original crashed Bong Marge plane that was found earlier this year in New Guinea, as well as possibly creating an exhibit out of it at the museum.
