New Wisconsin film tax credit and film office hope to boost local productions

Film PicSUPERIOR, Wis. – Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers recently announced a new tax credit for filming in Wisconsin and the creation of a Film Office.

It’s been a couple of decades since Wisconsin had a film tax credit.  Wisconsin was also one of only four states that didn’t have a film office either.

It’s a great opportunity for the city of Superior which has its own a municipal tax credit for filmmaking.

Both tax credits can be combined – making Superior an ideal destination for film production.

“Filmmakers have to go where they can get some help in financing their movies. They’re going to go where they get the biggest bang for their buck. And Minnesota is a great place to make a movie, but we’re right here next to Minnesota, and now they can look over here too,” said President Superior Council for the Arts JoAnn Jardine.

The film office will help connect local talent with filmmakers.

They’ll even have some spots for UW-Superior Film Student graduates to register.
