Gascon Named WCHA Goaltender of the Week, Bulldog Women & Men Ranked 9th in USCHO Poll

Both the men and women will be home this upcoming weekend.

DULUTH, Minn.- For the first time since 2017, the UMD women’s hockey team is coming off a weekend sweep of Minnesota.

As a result, the team has moved up a spot in the latest USCHO poll.

The Bulldogs are now the 9th team in the nation.

It was a big weekend for their goaltender, Eve Gascon, who earned her 6th WCHA Goaltender of the Week honor. She tallied 65 saves against the Golden Gophers.

Gascon and the Bulldogs will host Minnesota State-Mankato this upcoming weekend in the WCHA quarterfinals. Game one is Friday.

Like the UMD women’s team, the Bulldog men also broke out the brooms this weekend, taking both games at Miami of Ohio.

The Bulldogs however stay put in the recent USCHO poll as the team is still ranked 9th.

UMD has already secured home ice in the first round of the NCHC tournament. But they still have one regular season contest remaining.

That being against Colorado College this upcoming Friday at home at 7:07 pm.
