Head of the Lakes United Way to host 5th annual experience auction
DULUTH, Minn. — Head of the Lakes United Way is a week away from hosting its 5th annual online experience auction.
The auction offers over 80 items, including hotel stays, sports memorabilia and family activities.
The auction is a large fundraiser for United Way, and raises money to support programs and various events.
Many local businesses support the annual event and donate items to be auctioned off.
United Way has a fundraising goal of $1.2 million dollars, and the hope is to meet that by June.
“Any dollars raised goes towards the community investments that we make and programs, and then also all the internal programs that we want run with our babysitting classes, stuff the bus drives, our food drive, some different things like that. So all the money we raise goes towards making sure we can continue to provide those things across the region,” Sara Niemi, Head of the Lakes United Way President said.
The auction runs March 2-16.
United Way’s mission is to strengthen communities by connecting people and resources, focusing on health, education and financial stability.
