Hotel fire in Superior leaves $1 million in damages

SUPERIOR, Wis. — An overnight fire at a hotel in Superior has left $1 million in damages.

According to officials, fire crews responded at 11:04 p.m. Monday night to reports of a fire at the Superior and Sage Hotel.

The Hotel, which has been under renovation over the past few months since rebranding from The Superior Inn, is located on Hammond Avenue near the base of the Blatnik Bridge

Once on scene, crews found the hotel ablaze and evacuated everyone out of the building.

Officials say a partial collapse happened as crews were fighting the fire, which caused them to be pulled from the building.

The fire was finally extinguished at 4:06 a.m. Tuesday morning.

According to officials, damage is estimated at $1 million dollars.

A total of 16 Superior Firefighters and 3 Duluth Firefighters were on scene.

One of the seven occupants who were evacuated did seek medical attention from Mayo ambulance, and no firefighters were injured.
