Bayfield County snowmobile crash leaves one dead, one critically injured

NAMAKAGON TWSP, Wis. —  One person is dead after a snowmobile crash in Namakagon Township in Bayfield County.

According to officials, on February 25  at around 4:35 p.m., they received reports of a snowmobile crash on Trail 70.

Once on scene, they found a 39-year old man who was pronounced dead.

Initial investigation shows that the snowmobile was traveling west and was negotiating a hill when it left the trail and struck a group of trees.

A 38-year-old woman,  who was a passenger on the snowmobile,  sustained severe injuries in the crash and was airlifted to a local hospital.

Officials say the pair were husband and wife.

The crash remains under investigation.
