Northern Star: Tate Swanson
Swanson is a finalist for the Mr. Hockey Award.
DULUTH, Minn.-The Hibbing/Chisholm Boys hockey team has a lot of depth on their roster.
With stars on every single line, it’s hard to find the glue that holds this team together.
But for the 2025-26 Bluejackets, their anchor is Senior Forward Tate Swanson.
“He’s our leader, he is a great player, he has been the last three years at Varsity, and he is a winner. Kind of our heart and soul,” said Hibbing/Chisholm head coach Aaron Jamnick.
The Bluejackets leader has been able to make plays for his team all season long.
Knocking down 27 goals and tallying 42 Assists, which leads the team.
Swanson’s capability to make plays game in and game out is credited to his perspective of the ice.
” I probably say my strongest suit is my ability to see the ice. It’s very gifted, born with it. Just to be able to find the right plays when some people can’t find them,” said Swanson. ” I’m a believer in the brains over the brawn, we’re a big emphasize on making the right play, if it’s not there, making a smart play and getting it deep, get on the pucks, and just reset.”
Swanson’s fantastic senior season is not just the talk of the town in northern Minnesota.
He is getting state recognition for his play on the ice as he is one of ten Finalists for the 2026 Mr. Hockey award.
” When you are a little kid, you always hear about Mr. Hockey and I’m very honored and very excited to be a finalist. It’s something that I’ve dreamed about as a kid,” said Swanson. ” To get a little town in northern Minnesota in class A to be nominated, I’m very honored.”
