YMCA is Offering Childcare to Encourage Parents to Get out and Vote

The Duluth Area YMCA wants to rally the community and make voting fun.

DULUTH, Minn.-The Duluth area YMCA is offering up to two hours of free child care on election day during day care operation hours.

The Duluth “Y” was one of the few centers across the nation to receive a grant from “Vote Together USA.” The grant hopes to increase voter turnout and make elections fun for the whole community.

“For some parents, it’s really easy for them to bring their kids to the polls, but for others it might be a challenge, and so we want to make sure that everyone can fulfill their civic duty, and the “y” has a great history of civic engagement and we want to continue that tradition here in Duluth,” Senior Program Director Sara Eder said.

The “Y” is also participating in an election party. The center will have pizza, drinks and live music all day Tuesday.
