Tuesday night, the Superior City Council unanimously passed a project to help lessen the impact of the emerald ash borer species in the Superior Municipal Forest.

Plans are being designed by Superior Parks, Recreation and Forestry officials.

They say the harmful species is in Superior right now, but has not yet infested the forest.

“We would like to under plant three other species that are suitable to the municipal forest along the Pokegama River in order to boost the resistance and resiliency of the forest,” explained one of the plan engineers.

The Superior Municipal Forest is the 3rd largest municipal forest in the nation.
