Snowmobile Drivers are Asked to Be Safe After Five Deaths in Wisconsin Over the Weekend

During the 2017-2018 season The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reported 14 snowmobile deaths and Minnesota reported seven.

DULUTH, Minn. – Five people are dead after a weekend of snowmobile accidents in Wisconsin.

Experts are reminding riders the importance of snowmobiling safety.

Knowing the trail you are riding on is one way to ensure safety while riding a snowmobile.

Also, it is recommended to never ride alone and to stay on your side of the trail.

Speed is also considered one of the top reasons for snowmobile accidents and officials say riders lose sight of what is important.

“Just slow down and enjoy the scenery. I think people get excited and they want to see how fast they can go,” said Hermantown Night Rider’s President Joe Bullyan.

“That’s not the best choice, ” Bullyan continues.

Most snowmobiling trails are considered private property. The president says it is important to respect the trails by keeping safe speeds and riding within its limits.
