Raising the Roses in Leif Erikson Park
Raising the roses is a sign of Spring in the Northland
DULUTH, Minn.- Another sign of spring in the Northland!
Volunteers spent their Saturday morning digging up roses that were tied and hidden in the soil to protect them from Winter.
City workers say the rose garden at Leif Erikson Park is a local favorite, and they’re excited to unveil the first step in bringing the park back to life this year.
“Normally we’re doing this– well it’s April, so sometimes our weather can be unpredictable out here and people are surprised that we’re tipping up the roses, but it’s like one of our first signs of Spring,” park maintenance worker Wendy Wohlwend said.
Volunteers can help raise the rest of the roses in the park Tuesday, Apr. 23 at 3 P.M.
