Now that we’ve seen the hottest days so far this year, one thing’s for certain – it’s ice cream season.
The scoopers were out in full force all weekend and even Monday at Portland Malt Shoppe in Duluth.
One woman rode her bike 12 miles just to get her hands on a chocolate malt.
Those that work at the Portland Malt Shoppe say they’ve seen lines go all the way down the street when it’s busiest, and now that temperatures have reached the 90s, people are definitely beating the heat with a sweet treat.
“It cools you off on a day like this,” says ice cream server Elizabeth Daly. “And it’s just cool to be able to hang out by the lake and to be by a shop like this is pretty cool.”
It’s a tiny building, but Portland Malt Shoppe usually has four or five scoopers on staff during its busiest days.
