Services Set for Grantsburg Native Killed in Chattanooga
Funeral services have been set for a Wisconsin native who was one of four Marines killed in last week’s shootings in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Visitation for 25-year-old Sgt. Carson Holmquist will be held at Grantsburg High School on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A private family service will follow.
The Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home says the pallbearers will be a Marine Corps honor guard.
Holmquist was a 2008 graduate of Grantsburg High School, where he played football.
He joined the Marines in 2009 and served two tours of duty in Afghanistan.
He’s survived by his wife, Jasmine, a former UW-Superior student, and their 2-year-old son, Wyatt.
He’s the son of Thomas and La Brenda Holmquist, of Grantsburg.
Gov. Scott Walker has ordered that flags be flown at half-staff until sunset Saturday in Holmquist’s honor.
