Vehicles that run on propane were on display at a unique auto show at the DECC.
The Minnesota Propane Association wanted to showcase propane as an alternate fuel source for vehicles.
Those with the Association say that “auto-gas” as it’s known, is cleaner and less expensive than gasoline.
They say that’s a big deal for owners of the large trucks and fleet vehicles on display.
“With the clean air qualities that they get from propane, it’s becoming pretty important in the alternate fuel side of things right now,” explains MPA Director Roger Leider.
The LaCrosse Police Department in Wisconsin made the switch to propane vehicles in 2009.
Officers from there say it has saved their department tens of thousands of dollars in yearly fuel costs.
