A national traveling exhibit of Shakespeare’s plays is making it’s way to Duluth.

Thursday afternoon, several partners came together to announce UMD is the only Minnesota campus selected to host Shakespeare’s First Folio.

The exhibit will show the first collected edition of Shakespeare’s plays.

It was published 7 years after his death.

“Understand what the first generation of Shakespeare’s readers was really interested in and how they approach the plays as literature in addition to entertainment,” said UMD English Professor, Krista Twu.

Organizers say it’s a perfect way for UMD to celebrate Shakespeare’s 400th anniversary.

“It’s important because it showcases how strong UMD is in the humanities and the arts that we have this literature program that features publishing and print culture emphasis,” said Twu.

The exhibit will arrive in October 2016.
