Annual Fishing Event Brings Hundreds of Kids to Tower

Fishing Event Gets Kids Out on Lake Vermilion

It was a beautiful day to hit the lake and catch some fish!

More than 100 kids strapped their life jackets on and hopped in a boat for the 6th annual Let’s Take a Kid Fishing Event in Tower.

The kids went out with experienced guides to enjoy a day of fishing on one of the best lakes in Minnesota.

All of the rods and reels were provided.

Kids were thrilled to finally spend a whole day outdoors.

“I’m happy to get some time outside because it’s been kind of rainy.  But, then it’s also been really hot some days.  So, I usually spend time outside but there’s nothing really to do.  I like the outdoors more than inside,” said angler, Adaylia Delcaro.

This year, organizers say a record of 109 kids.

“We have them put the electronics away and a lot of times we get them with kids that they aren’t familiar with.  So, they learn good social skills and they get exposed to this great resource which is Lake Vermilion,” said Lake Vermilion Guide, Buck Lescarpeau.
