Community members and leaders gathered for the ribbon cutting of the Grand Central Plaza Wednesday.

Located on N. 13th Street and Weeks Avenue, the four story building offers 50 units with rent ranging from about $350-$900.

Tenants do not have to pay for their heat, hot water and sewage.

Amenities include attached garage parking, free WiFi and community spaces.

“We want to give them a facility that they don’t have in their home and that would be wider doorways and areas for accessibility if they’re in a wheelchair,” said Paul Gerrard with the Gerrard Corporation. “We wanted to bring them in closer to services in town.”

Grand Central Plaza cost a little more than $6 million to construct.

This is the fourth time the Gerrard Corporation has built a complex like this in Wisconsin with parking on the first floor and units on top.

The developers are also looking to build three more housing projects in Superior with one in the south end of town on Hammond Ave.

Construction is expected to start next fall.
