Dan’s Feed Bin Burned Down 24 Years Ago Today

Superior firefighters on Tuesday were recalling this day 24 years ago when Dan’s Feed Bin went up in flames.

The building on Hammond Avenue burned for days – killing animals inside and injuring four firefighters.

“That was a Sunday afternoon. I think 12:41 p.m. is when they got the call. And of course it was right across the street from the fire station. And when they got there, there really wasn’t much of a chance to save anything. And the building went up and it was a pretty spectacular sight,” said David Johnson, a captain for the Superior Fire Department.

A cause was never determined.
