Duluth City Councilors Give Initial Approval for Nordic Ski Trail

$1.5 Million Trail Gets First Approval

The Duluth City Council voted 7-2 Monday to approve an early plan for a new Nordic ski trail near Grand Avenue.

The Grand Avenue Mini Master Plan would be built near the lower chalet at Spirit Mountain.

While funding for the project still has to be granted or allocated, neighbors are already opposing the plan.

The plan calls for a snow making machine and a route that intrudes on a 500 foot buffer zone designated by the council when the lower chalet was proposed.

The city plans to meet with neighbors to discuss there concerns about the plan to ease concerns.
