Esko Football Team Get Set for Emotional Section Final

Kickoff for the secction 7AAA final between Aitkin and Esko is set for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

ESKO, Minn. – The Esko football team got past Proctor in the semi–finals this past weekend and now have to battle with Aitkin on Thursday night in the section 7AAA finals.

The Eskomos defeated the Gobblers a few weeks back, which gives them some extra confidence going into the game.

“They sent a lot of pressure, and we’ll probably expect that again but we’ve just got to get our blocks right and hopefully the defense can play well,”  Eskomos tackle Josh Bolgrean said.

“Anything you play a team a second time, they’re going to make adjustments. So they’re gonna expect us to do the same type of things and they’re going to adjust to it. It’s kind of that cat-and-mouse game a little bit. I would imagine they’re going to make their adjustments and so we have to be prepared for that,” head coach Scott Arnston added.

And that game against Aitkin was the night that sophomore quarterback Jackson Pfister passed away, which makes this section final extra emotional for both teams.

“Everyone wants to play for him and really after everything happened, we just want to go out there and get that section championship. It would be Arnston’s first section championship as a head coach and everyone would be feeling good,” tight end Trevor Spindler said.

Kickoff for Thursday night’s game is set for 7:00 p.m. at Malosky Field at UMD.
