Superior Elks Lodge Hosts Annual Flag Day Ceremony

The Superior Elks Lodge held a formal ceremony to celebrate Flag Day, Sunday.

The holiday was formally declared by President Harry S. Truman in 1949.

The Fraternal Order of Elks mandates that all of its lodges throughout the United States hold the formal ceremony every year.

Elks members believe the holiday stands for American tradition .

The ceremony included recounting the and displaying historic of the American flags from the Revolutionary War era through the current flag.  

Attendees also sang patriotic songs and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. 

Superior Mayor Bruce Hagen delivered the keynote address following the Flag Day Ceremony.
