Duluth’s Lake Superior and Mississippi Railroad ran its first two 12 mile trips Saturday.

The railroad offers riders the opportunity to take in nature and history as it winds from 71st and Grand Ave to the end of Mud Lake.

The nearly two hour ride is narrated and gives riders the opportunity to spot local wild life as they learn the history of Duluth and the rails.

The excursion train ride takes about an hour and forty minutes to complete, with departures at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

Adult tickets are $13.50, children’s tickets are $8.00, and kids under three ride free.

The train depot is located at 7100 Grand Ave., behind the Little Store.
