BoomTown Restaurant to Open This Spring in Rice Lake

DULUTH, Minn. – The former Sunset Bar & Grill will be home to a new restaurant this spring.

New owners Jessica and Erik Lietz say they plan to open a Boomtown bar and restaurant at 4483 Martin Road in the spring of 2020 that will offer “comfort food with a twist.”

This will be the third Boomtown restaurant location for the owners, who also have locations in Hibbing and Eveleth.

The pair purchased the 27-acre property last summer and has made plans to sell off a large portion of the property including the athletic fields behind the building.

Lietz says they will retain some of the lands for commercial development in the future as well.

They have not yet decided if they will brew beer at the Duluth Boomtown location or if they will have the liquor store due to licensing issues.

Boomtown is currently hiring for upper management positions at the restaurant. They plan to hire about 75 employees in total.
