The Duluth City Council Thursday approved two new specialized police officers to join the force.
The approval means no extra cost to taxpayers.
Chief Gordon Ramsay said the Duluth Transit Authority will pay for a full-time officer for crime prevention within the transportation system.
The second officer will be funded by the Department of Public Safety to focus on DWI related enforcement and an increase in drivers under the influence of drugs.
