Hundreds gather for the Blessing of the Bikes

Hundreds of motorcyclists gathered at the Vineyard Church Sunday for an annual Blessing of the Bikes.

The event brings bikers together to pray over each motorcycle, hoping faith helps ensure their safety on the dangerous roadways.

“It’s a dangerous thing to do so just getting blessed makes me feel better about it and hang out with community again,” said motorcyclists Caleb Johnson.

It’s an event organizers told Fox 21 is pivotal to the church community and has been taking place for more than a decade.

“We really believe that Jesus can change lives so we just want to bring the presence and the power of the resurrected to anybody who is open. So, it’s vitally important, the purpose of the church is to reach beyond itself,” said Vineyard Churches Senior Pastor Michael Gatlin.

Aside from the blessing there was also a Barbecue and church service.
