Duluth School District to Hold Emergency Alert Drill

DULUTH, Minn. – The Duluth public school district is partnering with the Duluth Police Department to conduct their first-ever district-wide alert drill to test how well they can work under pressure during an emergency.

The test will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The district will use all of its emergency and communication tools at their disposal for a coordinated effort.

Every school in the district will be participating simultaneously.

For students and staff, the test will feel like an emergency lockdown, with no effect on their daily activities.

“Behind the scenes is where all the action will be happening. Our central office staff, our site staff, and our administrators will all be working on communication and testing our different communication systems and monitoring those to make sure we’re getting communication where it needs to go,” District Assistant Superintendant, Jeff Horton says.

The alert will also include the districts “infinite campus messenger” with emails, phone calls and text messages being sent out to any parent in the system.
