Damage from the flood of 2012 is still being repaired nearly three years later.

The 8th Avenue project involves replacing damaged sidewalks and ditches with curbs and gutters between 4th and 8th streets.

A large portion of the estimated $385,000 project will come from FEMA and state bonds.

“When the FEMA representatives came in right after the flood, and they went around and identified flood washout areas, and this was identified as one of the areas that was in need of repairs,” said Tom Pfeffer, Senior Project Engineer for the City of Duluth.

The majority of construction is expected to take place in July and August.

The area will be largely inaccessible during construction.
