Arsonist Sets Fire to Historic Lincoln Park Tree
Sorry, this video is no longer available
The Duluth Fire Department received a call earlier this week at about 7:30 p.m. that one of the oldest and tallest trees in Lincoln Park was on fire.
Currently, there is yellow caution tape around it to keep passersby from touching the hallowed out trunk.
Authorities tell FOX 21, so far, they do not have any witnesses or even camera footage of what happened.
“It’s too bad this park came a long way through the years,” Lincoln Park resident Bill Engman said. “It used to not have a very good reputation the last 20–25 years or so. It got cleaned up real well and to have something like this happen it’s not a good feeling.”
This is not the first time a historic structure in Lincoln Park went up in flames.
Last year, someone intentionally set fire to the park’s pavilion.
The fire caused $75,000 worth of damage.
If anyone has any information, contact the fire department.
