CHISHOLM, Minn – In this week’s Knowing Your Neighbor we take a trip to the Iron Range to taste test bear claws at Black Bear Bakery.

Iona Lutt never envisioned she’d move to Chisolm but her significant other’s passion would blur with her own.

“My partner has a bear guide service, so we would come up here every year to bear hunt and really liked the area so we decided to go on the internet looking for bakeries for sale and wah–la,” said Lutt.

It was on main street in Chisholm she’d open up shop.

Bear claws, bear prints, baby bears, and big bears no matter where you look in the bakery the theme is bears.

Despite the title of bakery Lutt offers much more than just sugary treats.

“Soup, sandwiches, a few fried baskets, and my biggest seller is my doughnuts and pasties,” said Lutt.
