Wednesday is National Zoo Lovers Day. This is a day for people to celebrate, promote and visit the local zoo’s.
The Lake Superior Zoo has many developments in store.
“We were awarded $7,000 for our barnyard to incorporate some educational tools and signage for our kids that visit the barnyard in the summertime,” Maicie Sykes, Lead Zookeeper at the Lake Superior Zoo said.
Kids will be able to act like a zoo keeper or a farmer, learn where food comes from and get interactive with the animals as well.
The foxes have been off exhibit since 2012 and they will be back in a couple weeks with a new exhibit.
Lake Superior Zoo is also working on an outdoor swamp monkey exhibit that will be complete by the end of the summer.
A new $65 annual pass per family membership special is available through the end of June as well.
