Organizations gathered to help victims left homeless from a fire in Duluth’s East Hillside.

Ten organizations including the Salvation Army and American Red Cross gathered to provide a one stop shop for the 44 people left homeless.

The strengths of each organization will help the families get back into a stable housing situation.

“We’re already talking about putting together a standard operating guide and continue on working like this.  Hopefully we don’t have to do it quite often but let’s be honest it does happen,” said Tony Guerra with American Red Cross.

Because the Twin Ports is such a giving community, organizers ask to hold off on furniture donations until people find a home.

“We don’t have the storage facilities. We are getting dozens of calls a day for furniture, clothes and stuff and none of us have warehouses and the key thing is these folks don’t have homes yet,” Guerra said.

A benefit will be held for the families on Saturday at Strikers from 1 p.m. at 6 p.m.

The DTA is giving free rides to the victims.
