PROCTOR, Minn. – The city of Proctor is one step closer to sealing the deal on a new regional multi-use arena.

City officials have re-submitted an application with the state for bonding money towards the project.

They requested money last year, but they were denied the funds.

Now, Governor Dayton is giving interested parties another chance to request bonding money if their projects were denied.

The city of Proctor, the school district and the Proctor Amateur Hockey Association have teamed up in hopes of building the new facility.

“There is a need for multi–use arenas. One sport arenas haven’t succeeded as well in other communities but also just making it a regional facility is really our focus as well as our state’s focus,” said Proctor’s Deputy Clerk Tim Peterson.

Proctor’s bonding bill request is for $4-million dollars but it would only cover half the projected $8-million dollar cost.

The other half of the funds would be paid by the area hockey association or private funding.

It’s not known when construction would begin if the funds are granted however, it would be built at the fairgrounds.
