A New Child Care Center Is Coming To Duluth
Hope for Kids Child Care Center is expected to open in July.
DULUTH, Minn- A new daycare center is coming to Duluth.
Hope for Kids Child Care Center is expected to open this summer at the Hope United Methodist Church in Duluth.
A long-standing child care shortage has been a big concern in the Northland for quite a while.
As the pandemic continues, Hope for Kids Child Care Center is hopeful to be one more addition to the list of child care providers, to help minimize that shortage.
The child care facility will be taking its rightful place in the educational wing at Hope United Methodist Church.
The new center is expected to have enough room to hold more than 60 kids.
There are eight classrooms in the facility.
It will serve infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
The executive director has been involved since last fall with trying to open a child care center.
She had to pump the breaks on her life-long dream for a little bit with the uncertainty of the Coronavirus outbreak in the Northland.
When the opportunity became to available fulfill the need for childcare, she felt it was still important to keep pushing towards the goal, even as the pandemic continues.
Executive Director Marcia DeMeo- Morse says “with the pandemic, I don’t think may child care centers are really full right now. When we get back to whatever our normal is, folks are going to have to get back to work and I’m just hoping to provide another option.”
Hope for Kids is still in the licensing stage.
Inspections are still needed before the facility can open.
The center is newly remodeled and ready to welcome kids once licensing has been established.
