Those who visit Billings Park at the end of the summer may have a different feeling in a particular spot.

Community members are proposing to create a healing place for families and friends who have experienced the tragic loss of a child.

The park will provide a place of comfort.

Organizer, Katelyn Baumann, says they are taking their time with the project to make sure they establish a peaceful sanctuary for all.

“We want this park to be a very beautiful place for family and friends to gather if they’ve lost a child.  That’s so tragic and we want this to be a beautiful place for them.  So, we are working very hard to make sure this project happens for the county,” Baumann expressed.

They are still in the designing phase but would like to have a swing and tree with a garden around it somewhere in Billings Park.

The group’s financial plans have not been finalized yet and are looking into sponsorship, private donations and donations from local businesses.

The garden is hoped to be installed by the end of the summer.

The organizers will be solidifying more plans with the Parks and Recreation Committee at the City Council Meeting Tuesday Evening.
