Organization Starts Campaign To Recognize Duluth Educators
The community is encouraged to recognize educators using the hashtag #Applause4DuluthTeachers.
DULUTH, Minn. – Teachers, staff, and other educational employees have been stepping up to meet the needs of Duluth Public School children as they transitioned to distance learning.
And that big change has certainly included some struggles and challenges.
But the Education Equity Alliance wants to make sure all the hard work of teachers and staff doesn’t go unnoticed.
The education equity alliance is creating a campaign to ensure educators in Duluth schools are getting the recognition they deserve as they continue supporting students.
A four-foot high sign now stands outside of the old Central High School, where many educators have taught over the years.
The sign is a symbol of appreciation for the hundreds of faculty and staff members who have been putting students first as they dealt with new ways of being educated.
The major goal is to hopefully spread the message about the importance of acknowledging those who are working hard to support the community during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
“So many of us have been impacted in an incredible way by at least one teacher,” said EEA Representative Mary Owen. “We need all of us to step up to recognize all the good that’s going on and all the hard work that we don’t always appreciate going on in this field and others.”
The Education Equity Alliance is an organization geared towards improving the lives of students in the Duluth Public School District, including as they finish out the school year in a distance learning model.
The Duluth community can jump in on this campaign to recognize educators by using the hashtag #Applause4DuluthTeachers.
