To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day about 400 people in costumes came out for the 5th annual Shamrock Pub Shuffle.

The nearly three mile run started off at Leif Ericson park and continued along the Lakewalk with stops in between at Carmodys and Canal Park brewery to taste locally crafted beer.

“It gives people the chance to do a run that’s not a race,” Duluth Running Company CEO Clint Agar said. “So it’s a little bit less intimidating and I would say has a different element to it.”

Event coordinators say the run definitely brings out a different crowd.

Ultimately the Shamrock Shuffle is not about competition, but about raising money for a good cause, having fun and being active.

“Running should be fun and it’s even more fun when you’re drinking,” said Agar.

A portion of the event’s proceeds will go to the Twin Ports Miracle League which is a nonprofit providing children with mental and or physical challenges the opportunity to play sports.
