New Program To Feed Children On The Weekends In Duluth
DULUTH, Minn. — 160 kids are going home with free meals this weekend all because of the Union Gospel Mission.
UGM has partnered with Project Joy this summer because they’ve realized kids get fed throughout the week through youth programs, but not the weekends. Project Joy gave them a donation of $17,500 to help get the program started.
The prepared food bags are delivered Thursdays to organizations such as Valley Youth Center and Neighborhood Youth Services.
“No kid should have to worry about where they’re getting their next meal. And so, for less than $10, we can feed a child for the entire weekend. And so, we’re really just fortunate that the community has stepped up and supported as a whole, as an organization, but also with these ideas that come to fruition and being able to offer more and more support to those that need it in the community,” said Katie Hagglund, Executive Director of the Union Gospel Mission.
The Union Gospel Mission hopes to connect with even more youth programs to help feed more kids. If you’d like to donate to UGM, visit their website here.
