Public Schools Stadium to Be Renamed on July 1st

It will now be called Walt Hunting Stadium-Marv Heikkinen Field.

DULUTH, Minn.- Beginning on July 1st, Public Schools Stadium on the campus of Duluth Denfeld high school will have a new name.

It will now be called Walt Hunting Stadium-Marv Heikkinen Field.

Hunting coaching the Denfeld football team from 1927 to 1955, winning 14 city titles, and 5 state titles, some of which were official and some were unofficial.

Heikkinen also was a football coach at Denfeld from 1971 to 1983.

He helped the team make two state tournament appearances and win the 1975 Northern Minnesota championship.
