Athletes are gearing up to race downhill at 40 miles per hour on hockey skates.
The 2nd annual Riders Cup Ice Cross Downhill event is happening Saturday at Mont du Lac, where skaters will take on jumps, turns, and drops.
Competing for his second year and a member of team USA, Reed Whiting says the trick is to go as fast as you can and to stay on your feet.
“It’s pretty wild. “You’ve got this small piece of steel on your feet, trying to keep balance going down this crazy track. You’re on the edge of disaster every second. It’s a really fine line between going top speed and crashing.”
The event starts Saturday at 2 PM.
