Bishop-Elect Appointed by Pope for Dioceses of Duluth

DULUTH, Minn. – A Bishop-elect has been appointed for the Diocese of Duluth.

According to a Friday press release, Pope Francis has appointed Father Michael. J. Mulloy, from the Diocese of Rapid City, South Dakota, to be the 10th bishop of the Diocese of Duluth.

Mulloy’s episcopal ordination and installation will be held on Thursday, October 1.

The Diocese of Duluth will hold a press conference today at 1:00 p.m. to introduce Bishop-elect Mulloy at the diocesan Pastoral Center.

Bishop-elect Mulloy will succeed the late Bishop Paul Sirba, who died unexpectedly on Dec. 1, 2019.
