Widow of Disgraced Chicago Police Officer Wants Pension

The widow of a disgraced Illinois police officer who staged his own suicide now wants his pension. 

The Fox Lake Police Pension Board is deciding whether Melodie Gliniewicz is entitled to the money, and if so, how much does she deserve. 

Gliniewicz is accused of playing a part in her husband’s embezzlement scheme.  

Lieutenant Joe Gliniewicz staged his own suicide in 2015 after embezzling money from the Fox Lake police. 

Melodie has been charged with four counts of Misusing Charitable Funds and two counts of Money Laundering. 

Investigators say she and her husband used funds from the department’s youth program on personal travel, meals and entertainment.
