Woman Injured in Duluth Shooting

A 19-year-old woman was injured after a shooting in Duluth early Monday morning. 

The Duluth Police Department responded to the area of the 4600 block of West 8th Street around 2:18 a.m. on reports of shots fired. 

When police arrived, they spoke to several people who told them it sounded like fireworks. 

Around 2:44 a.m., dispatch received a call from a local hospital informing them that a 19-year-old woman was in the emergency room with a gunshot wound.  The woman was one of the individuals who told police that the noise was fireworks.  She gave no indication to authorities that she had been shot.  Police located several bullet casings on scene. 

The woman was taken to the hospital by known acquaintances and treated for non-life threatening injuries. 

Duluth police say this does not appear to be a random act and the individuals involved were known to each other. 

The incident remains under investigation.
