PAVSA Hosts Annual BBQ And Cupcake Sale

DULUTH, Minn. – The Program for Aid to Victims of Sexual Assault, also known as PAVSA, hosted its annual summer barbeque and cupcake sale to raise money for the people they serve.

This year the group had to rethink one of its biggest fundraisers and add some protocols to ensure everyone’s safety during the pandemic.

The Rambler food truck teamed up with PAVSA to provide the food in a safe manner.

A portion of the money raised from food sales is being donated to the organization.

Also this year, instead of the group bake sale, the cupcakes were catered.

Folks could also drive up to get their treats for less contact.

“Reimagining a different way so that we can still put this on is really great for the clients we serve, our staff and everybody,” said Executive Director Sara Niemi. “If we had to cancel it would have been a big deal for us financially.”

The goal of the fundraiser is also to show the organization is open and services are available for those who are in need of help.
