DULUTH, Minn. – One local apartment complex that serves the underprivileged now has its guests connected through universal wifi due to help from a local grant.

The Steve O’Neil Apartments in Duluth now not only has more internet accessibility, but each household at the complex was provided with refurbished laptops as well, which should help the tenants have better access to education along with telehealthcare.

“It’s just a big weight off my shoulders,” said Abbie Blais, a tenant at the apartments. “You know, sometimes, you don’t know if you’re going to be able to pay off the bill. With everything going on, it’s just a really great thing.”

The funding for this project was paid for through a grant from the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation along with the collaboration of CHUM, Community Action Duluth, Downtown Computer, Spectrum and Dr. Molly Harney, an associate professor at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
